Kelsey Gerber is a dance artist, educator, choreographer, and creative director originally from Minden, NV. Her early training began in jazz and tap, where she spent much of her youth performing competitively and professionally, including work aboard cruise lines. After high school, she continued her training at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and later performed with State Street Ballet’s apprentice company.
Kelsey went on to earn her BFA in Dance Performance from UC Irvine, where she received a research grant that supported international touring opportunities. Her training and performance background spans contemporary, ballet, jazz, tap, improvisation, and somatic-based practices, with additional summer study under artists and organizations including Brenda Way, Twyla Tharp, Holly Johnston, Leah Cox, Shannon Gillen, Post:Ballet, and others.
Throughout her career, Kelsey has performed works by Twyla Tharp, Autumn Eckman, Saleemah E. Knight, Chad Michael Hall, Brenda Way, and more. She has danced with Multiplex Dance, Brockus:RED, Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre, Peter & Co., ka·nei·see | collective, and Alyssandra Katherine Dance Project, and has appeared as a guest artist with Bellwether Dance Project and AXIS Dance Company.
As an educator, Kelsey has served on ballet faculty with ODC School in San Francisco. Her teaching is informed by pedagogy training with Sandra Chinn and Augusta Moore, with an emphasis on strong technical foundations, body awareness, creative confidence, and personal expression.
Kelsey is also a choreographer and dance filmmaker. Her 2019 film Bloom received Best Choreography from the Saint Petersburg International Film Festival and Audience Choice Award from Bright Ideas Film Festival. She later choreographed, produced, and directed No End, a dance film created in collaboration with award-winning dance musician Michael Wall, with whom she developed the film’s original sound score. No End premiered at Alchemy’s 2022 Dance Film Festival and received recognition for Excellence in Dance and Videography, as well as Best Choreography from a Brazilian film festival.
Alongside her dance work, Kelsey brings a strong background in photography, branding, marketing, and creative direction. Her broader creative practice is rooted in storytelling, visual identity, movement, and helping people and organizations communicate who they are with clarity and heart.
